If you happen to be a little guy, say just a smidge over 3 1/2 years-old, and absolutely cannot hack foods with any sort of texture in your mouth, then something like gum is no good. Something that remains in your mouth, continues to be chewy and simply won't go the fuck away: that is pure evil. Devon discovered this today after his sister agreed to give him half of a piece of gum. They were both in the backseat of the car and the screams of horror that erupted from his ruby red cherubic lips nearly made me drive off the road. I don't think he will be repeating that experience again any time soon.
